Web Page Management

The website is built on the u3a SiteWorks platform. u3a SiteWorks is a volunteer-led project providing WordPress websites to u3as, replacing the existing Site Builder platform. More information is available in the following Group Leader Website access document from the Odiham District u3a site. As we develop our site we will update our support pages to reflect how to Set up and maintaining a group page. Till then the IT support team can make changes on your behalf.

Setting up and maintaining a group page

Every interest group has a Web Page which is the key way of advertising the Group and its activities to u3a Members. It is easy to add Events, upload photos, attach documents to make your Group Page as interesting as possible. The Webmaster will:

- Set up a new Group Page on the website with information about the Group from the Group Leader

- Set up Contact email ID for the Group

- Set up a Group member (not necessarily the Group Leader) as a Page Author with ID and password for the website and show how to use the website software

- or just ask the Webmaster or Groups Coordinator to make any changes you require to your Group Page if you prefer.

Once the web page has been set up it is entirely up to you how it should be maintained. But remember that your web page is the public window for your group. You should never leave out-of-date information on the page

This is a demonstration page showing what can be done through editing. ==> Our U3A website - how to edit your page

Security of your personal information

You should never place any personal information on your web page which could be used by criminal elements.

  • DO NOT leave your personal email ID on the page.
  • We recommend that you should leave phone numbers only if you are happy for them to be in the public environment
  • DO NOT leave any address details on the page
  • On request we will give your group an anonymous email address which can be used for any correspondence or enquiries. Any email sent to that address will be auto-forwarded to your private email address
