How do I join?

Just click on the How to join link and you will be guided through the very simple process.

The annual fee for 2023-24 is £15. This is reduced to £11.00 for members who are affiliated with another u3a.

Fill out an application form and follow the instructions printed on the form. An application form is available via the link Membership Application Form - pdf or from Katrina Whitfield, Membership Secretary.

Can anyone join East Grinstead u3a?

We are open to all people no longer in full-time employment.

My partner is already a member of East Grinstead u3a.  Do you have a discounted membership fee for partners?

No, all members join as individuals.

I am already a member of another u3a.  Do I have to pay a full membership fee?

No, you will pay a discounted membership fee which recognises you are already affiliated to the u3a.

I understand that the membership year is from September to August.
Do I pay a discounted membership if I join part-way through the year? 

There is no discounted membership but, if you join after May 31st, your annual fee covers membership right through to the end of August the following year.

I joined the u3a to attend a particular interest group.  Am I also allowed to attend the monthly Hub meetings?

These monthly meetings are open to all members.  Click on Events to see details of future meetings.

Am I generally covered by u3a public liability insurance when taking part in a u3a activity?

Yes. A copy of the insurance cover note can be found on the Admin Page of our website - TAT Insurance Cover note 2024. This is Public and Products Liability Insurance. Please note this is not Personal Liability insurance and you are responsible for your own health and safety.

How do I find out more about interest groups?

Browse the Groups page.  You will find information about every group there.  If you want to find out more or have a question, you will find an email link to each group’s leader.  The leader administers the group and will be able to help you with your questions. Some groups offer a trial session.

Do all interest groups have space for new members?

Some groups are popular and may be full.  These groups often operate a waiting list to which your name can be added, when applying to join the group. Our Groups Coordinator will be happy to advise you.  Click to send an email to the Groups Coordinator.

Can I start a new group as a new member?  

Yes, you are very welcome to start a group on a new subject in which you are interested or, if you wish, an additional group on an existing subject.  Our Groups Coordinator will be happy to guide and support you.
