Meeting on the 2nd Wednesday of the month
Routes will usually be circular, between 9 and 12 miles, and expected to last 4-6 hours, maybe more.
If it's necessary to change the day/date from the 2nd Wednesday, I will give you ample notice.
Members should be reasonably fit, have suitable 'walking' clothes & boots (see advice on website), be capable of negotiating stiles etc and also maintaining a pace to meet the distance & timescales required. The walks will be in all types of weather, over varying terrain, and we may encounter steep inclines, mud & livestock.
Unless stated otherwise, the walk will be circular, often starting from a car park, with a short stop for morning refreshment, and a longer stop for lunch. Attendees must bring some water to drink, as well as refreshments e.g. a flask of coffee & a cereal bar for the morning stop, and a packed lunch for the lunch stop. I will try to keep the walks as local as possible, but hopefully varied and interesting too.
Please only bring a dog (see advice on website) if you're happy to keep it on a lead, and note that if the route is not suitable for dogs, this will be stated beforehand.
Note that it is a membership requirement regarding Accidents & Safe-keeping of Possessions, to sign a 'disclaimer', absolving the Walk Leader and/or the U3A from liability should any loss or accident occur.
