Mid Sussex older people's council (MSOPC)

MSOPC is a local charity managed and run by older people for older people in Mid Sussex. Its aim is to improve their lives through the representation it makes to decision-makers about older people's needs. It also aims to reduce isolation and loneliness, offering support, advice and information on many issues which older people face, through its social opportunities, public events, road shows, quarterly newsletters and helpline.

East Grinstead Macular Society Support Group

East Grinstead Macular Society Support Group runs monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of the month. Our meetings, outings and friendships are a lifeline for people with macular, a medical eye condition that reduces central vision in the elderly and can lead to feelings of uncertainty and isolation.

We have various speakers who talk on various topics, some informative, and some entertaining. We occasionally have musicians who play for us. Transport can be arranged when needed, and that all-important cup of tea is provided. This is a chance for members to relax, meet and socialise and is all made possible by our merry band of volunteers. New members are always welcome. The Committee arranges 'Days Out' to appropriate venues throughout the year, for which transport is provided. Familiar, caring volunteers accompany the group. 'Days Out' include train excursions, river trips, visits to the seaside and shopping outings, to name just a few. Our established, efficient Committee is in need of volunteers as our Leader/Secretary is retiring. If you could help this worthwhile organisation, please visit East Grinstead Library for contact details. East Grinstead Macular Support Group is part of the Macular Society, a registered charity.

This local group is looking to increase its membership of local residents.

The LAT is a community-based activity group co-operating with other locally based charity groups involved with local issues. This includes providing volunteers supporting the Neighbourhood Police's Community Speedwatch, Neighbourhood Watch & Alerts.

The LAT enjoys an informal atmosphere and meets regularly every 8-10 weeks in a town centre venue. If you have an interest in local matters and would like to join the group, email us at LATMAIL@uwclub.net
